What makes a MOOC stand out? The workshop objectives are the following:
1) Participants will learn about an international online course certification system (EOCCS).
2) Participants will discuss the elements that make up a good MOOC as regards the areas Institutional context, Course Design & Composition, Course Delivery and Quality Assurance Processes.
3) Participants will formulate questions for course evaluation which can provide guidance for quality assurance of MOOCs.
In the first part of the session, the speakers will briefly introduce EOCCS which stands for the “EFMD Global Network Online Course Certification System”. The international certification system has certified seven MOOCs since 2016. Following the introductory part (20 Min.), the objectives for the group work will be illustrated. Workshop participants will be divided into four groups. Each of the four groups shall represent one of the four EOCCS pillars: Institutional context, Course Design & Composition, Course Delivery and Quality Assurance Processes. In the individual groups, participants shall have the opportunity to network, discuss the elements that make up a good MOOC and formulate questions for course evaluation (45 Min.).
In the concluding part, everyone will come together for a short presentation of the findings and learnings. The workshop presenters will mirror the findings with the EOCCS Standards (25 Min.).
